How to calculate pipeline insulation construction materials?
2021-08-10

Many engineers cannot start the pipe insulation construction calculation process because they don't know the size of the pipe itself. The editor teaches you to calculate the radius using simple geometry. The circular shape of the pipe follows a two-dimensional circle. The radius is the distance between the center of the circle or pipe (in this case) and its circumference (i.e., the boundary). The radius is also half the diameter, that is, the distance between two points, directly through the center of the circle. The radius of the pipe can be calculated based on the diameter or circumference of the pipe.

The pipe has insulation function, but the thickness and temperature are different. How to calculate the pipe insulation construction material?

Formula: V pipe = LPi (DDeltaDelta*3.3%) * (DeltaDelta*3.3%) = LPi (D1.033Delta) * 1.033Delta. The volume of the insulation layer is in m3, depending on the type of insulation material and the pipe diameter. When calculating the pipe length, the length of the flange, valve, and fittings is not subtracted.

L is the pipe length.

D is the outer diameter of the pipe.

δ is the thickness of the insulation layer.

Insulation layer deviation: For example, the wall thickness of a DN100 pipe plus a steel pipe is DN108. Based on the 0.05-meter insulation layer, 0.108 (pipe and steel pipe) plus 0.05 (insulation thickness) multiplied by 0.05 (insulation thickness) multiplied by 3.14 equals 0.024806 (cubic meters per meter), calculated by this formula.
