Application of Thermosetting Polystyrene Board in Civil Buildings
2022-12-16

Thermosetting polystyrene boards for civil buildings are suitable for exterior wall insulation projects of newly built, renovated and expanded civil and industrial buildings, as well as energy-saving renovation projects for existing exterior walls and fireproof isolation zones. The polystyrene particles are surrounded by special inorganic material crystals with fireproof properties, which are evenly filled and isolated from the air, thus changing the defects of shrinkage and dripping of the original thermosetting polystyrene board when exposed to fire.

This technology is to fix the thermosetting polystyrene board on the outside of the wall before pouring, and the two can form an integrated exterior wall after pouring. If the technical level allows, this technology can be completed together with the wall construction without taking up too much time.

The ambient temperature at the construction site of the thermosetting polystyrene board and the surface temperature of the wall shall not be lower than 5°C within 24 hours during and after construction. During summer construction, direct sunlight should be avoided, and temporary sunshade should be set on the scaffolding if necessary. Effective measures should be taken during rainy day construction to prevent rain from scouring the wall. In order to better ensure the strength and straightness of the corners of the wall, corner guards should be used at the yin and yang corners of the wall and door and window openings. The external wall insulation system should be well sealed and waterproofed to ensure that water does not penetrate into the insulation layer and base layer. Detailed drawings should be provided for important parts.

After the thermosetting polystyrene board is pasted and fixed, it needs to be left to stand for 24 hours before polishing. For polishing, use a special trowel to smooth the unevenness of the board edge and eliminate the height difference between the joints between the boards. During polishing, the scattered EPS debris should be cleaned up at any time. When the gap between the boards is greater than 1.6mm, EPS strips should be used to fill and then polish.
