1、 Basic Definition
EPS is called Expanded Polystyrene, molded polystyrene foam board, commonly known as benzene board and foam board.
Made from expandable polystyrene beads as raw materials, it is pre foamed, matured, molded at high temperature, and cut. The internal structure is an independent closed honeycomb closed cell structure, with 98% static air, relying on closed air to achieve thermal insulation.

3、 Production process flow
Raw material beads → Steam pre foaming → Static curing for 2-3 weeks (to eliminate shrinkage deformation) → Mold steam pressure molding → Drying → Cutting into standard boards
4、 Core advantages and disadvantages
Advantages
1. The self weight is extremely light and will not increase the load on the wall; Soft texture, easy cutting, and simple construction on site
2. High cost-effectiveness, priced at only 60% -70% of XPS extruded board, it is the most popular insulation material for civil buildings
3. Closed cell structure, insulation and sound insulation, low temperature resistance, excellent adaptability to cold storage and underfloor heating environments
4. The wall has excellent adhesion and does not require complex interface treatment
5. Applied for decades, the supporting mortar, mesh cloth, and anchor bolt construction system is mature and perfect
shortcoming
1. Resistant to high temperature differences, softening and deformation of boards above 75 ℃; Direct sunlight is prone to aging and becoming brittle
2. Weak compressive strength, cannot be used for high load ground; Long term soaking in humid environment leads to a decline in thermal insulation performance
3. Organic combustible materials, B2 grade, melt, drip, flow, and ignite when exposed to open flames, with fire control restrictions on high-rise exterior walls
4. It must be fully matured, and if the construction period is insufficient, it is prone to shrinkage and cracking in the later stage

5、 Main application scenarios
1. Building insulation: external wall insulation, internal wall insulation, roof insulation, basement partition wall, underfloor heating insulation layer

6、 Quick distinction between EPS and XPS (extruded polystyrene board)
1. EPS (molded): made by extruding and bonding particles, with a granular feel on the surface, soft texture, high water absorption rate, cheap price, mostly used for wall insulation
2. XPS (extrusion molding): one-piece extrusion molding, dense and hard structure, stronger pressure and moisture resistance, suitable for insulation of roofs, underground, and parking lot floors
7、 Site selection&construction points
1. For exterior wall engineering, priority should be given to B1 grade flame-retardant panels with a density of ≥ 20kg/m ³
2. The board must complete a 2-3 week curing period before leaving the factory, and it is prohibited to directly apply it to the wall after production
3. A waterproof plaster layer needs to be added to damp areas; The outer side of the exterior wall must be coated with adhesive plaster and alkali resistant mesh cloth for protection, isolating ultraviolet rays
4. Senior management strictly adheres to local fire safety regulations, and some projects restrict B-grade organic insulation boards
